I moved to Florida from a location where I didn’t have to really worry about heartworms. I didn’t know about them and underestimated the risk.
Therefore, my Labrador, Kharma, wasn’t given a preventive medication. So when she contracted heartworms she had to receive treatment through those awful shots.
She’s kind of an older dog and I was so afraid she wouldn’t make it through the treatment. Kharma was so sick. After the treatment I was afraid to give her Heartgard Plus. But she LOVES the taste of it and has had no bad effects from it.
On top of that she is now free from heartworms. Prevention is much better for your dogs than the treatment. Heartgard Plus should be your choice.
